Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music Dedicated to debunking the myth that “modern” music is an academic genre, accessible only to the privileged few, eighth blackbird celebrates the universality of the repertoire with such exuberance and virtuosity that its performances hold the listener spellbound long after the curtain falls. In its second concert of the season, Indie classical meets indie rock when eighth blackbird collaborates with Glenn Kotche (pictured), drummer of superstar Chicago band Wilco. An accomplished composer/performer in his own right, Kotche was eager to work with the fellow Grammy winners after he heard eighth blackbird’s January 2008 performance at Chicago's Harris Theater. This Richmond performance will feature works from Kotche's album Mobile performed by the percussionist and eighth blackbird, a solo set by Kotche, Dutch composer Louis Andriessen’s pedal-to-the-metal Worker’s Union and more. The performance of Steve Mackey's "Slide," featuring eighth blackbird with actor Rinde Eckert, has been postponed.
