Nostalgia-fest

Above, the Mac (proudly sporting a Coopers Beer shirt) and the Phot at Graeter’s Ice Cream, one of Cincinnati’s finest establishments.

8bb is in Cincinnati to take part in Music 08, a new music festival - run by composition professor Joel Hoffmann - which the group has taught at since its members were students here in the late 90s. This will be the festival’s last shebang, and as a result it may be a while until 8bb is in its old home town again.

So this is a nostalgia-fest of epic proportions. (For me this is a week of nostalgia as well. Music 06 was where I did my trial week with the group, and where I first performed in public with this rag-tag band of 5 semi-lunatics.)

As a group we have our list of “final time in…” locations to hit this week (all of them food- or drink-related, which tells you a lot about 8bb). We went over them in the car on the way to Cincinnati. Graeter’s was first on the list; then Ambar Indian Restaurant (in which the Phot, the Alb and the Mac are pictured, below); the tragic, skanky, college ambience of Christie’s Beer Garden; the fabulous food and welcoming staff at Thai Express; the local Buck; the 2.30am perfection of Skyline Chili.

Last, but very, very certainly not least, is the Creation Museum, which the Phot and I will visit (with camera and blogging-notebook in tow) on Saturday. Expect a full report next week…

I can’t wait to have a 2:30AM Skyline run. Graeters is a treat I honestly didn’t take advantage of much while I was living here. Don’t forget Adriatico’s pizza. Thick, cheesy, slightly spicy, delicious.
