The program for our 2008/09 season at the Harris Theater in downtown Chicago has been made public, and it’s a doozy.

In the first concert, on Tuesday December 16, we collaborate with Glenn Kotche, drummer of superstar Chicago-based indie band Wilco and an accomplished composer/performer in his own right. Glenn heard our January performance at the Harris Theater, and was keen to work with us. 8bb will perform some of Glenn’s music, we will collaborate with the accomplished drummer in Andriessen’s pedal-to-the-metal Worker’s Union, and Glenn will play his own set.

Think we can’t top that? For our second concert, on February 19, we welcome the world’s pre-eminent vocal group, the Hilliard Ensemble, to perform Stephen Hartke’s monumental, sublimely beautiful Tituli with us as part of an all-Hartke concert. The program will also include the Chicago premiere of Hartke’s 2007 work for 8bb, the Pulitzer Prize-nominated Meanwhile (you can hear excerpts and an interview here), and his piano trio The Horse with the Lavender Eye.
We couldn’t be happier with this amazing lineup, and can’t wait to get our teeth into some fabulous collaborations! Wow!
