For a legal alien on an H1-B visa, this story in the NY Times, about a musicologist whose visa was revoked with no explanation, is a timely reminder of how tenuous my legal status is in the United States.

Apparently those who traffic in music and ideas are dangerous, indeed (seriously, though, National Socialists found a lot of time in the day to harass artists, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised when evil bureaucrats intervene)! And that Elgar- nobody knows what those “Enigma Variations” are all about; He’s sending messages for the enemy!
